Miss "Maggie" came to me at about 4 months all the way from Florida!! She was the beautiful deep dark red that I love and was the sweetest thing imaginable. Neither EVER changed !!! She was kind and gentle, an awesome mother and a GREAT companion. In 2005, my cousin's Mother-in-law, who had fallen in love with their Rhodesian, Athena, asked if I would be willing to share with her one of my adult ridgebacks so that she would have a walking companion and a friend to share her home with. With great joy and great sorrow, I sent my Maggie to Tanis to be her BEST bud. They adored each other!!!
Maggie passed away on November 30th of cancer. In Tanis's words:
"I miss her so much and am very thankful for the time I had with her. We were so close and communicated very well... she was the smartest pet I have ever known. I felt safe in her company on hikes, late night walks in the neighborhood and in the house. I was comforted by her presence. She made my house a home and single life more meaningful. She is buried in the sunniest part of the yard and I am thinking of planting a Magnolia tree in her honor. Or, I may grow all red vegetables next year in Maggie's garden. I love that girl! "
All who knew Maggie loved her. How could you not? Sundance, Relic & Hannah are there to greet you Maggie. I know you are all running again through the SD tall grass, sunning on the edge of the CO Rimrock, and are forever young again. Thanks for the memories, Maggie Mae!!!
