A Name
When God had made the earth and sky, the flowers and the trees,
He then made all the animals; the fish, the birds and bees.
And when at last He'd finished, not one was quite the same.
He said, "I'll walk this world of mine and give each one a name."
And so He traveled far and wide and everywhere He went,
A little creature followed Him until its strength was spent.
When all were named upon the earth and in the sky and sea,
The little creature said, "Dear Lord, there's not one left for me."
Kindly the Father said to her, "I've left you to the end.
I've turned my own name back to front
And called you dog, my friend."
Tango is the first female puppy my children and I brought home!!! And what a grand ol’dame she turned out to be!!! Her quiet, gentle presence is still a major influence in our Rhodesian pack. Her daughters, Jazz, Meg and Kaidance, are all co-owned by friends and family and have been an important contribution to the genetics of Kollege Kennels dogs. Her beautiful eyes and gorgeous head are her most appreciated contribution and thankfully she passed them on to her daughters, grandpuppies and great grandpuppies!!! The puppies loved to try to coax her into play which she tolerated admirably. She enjoyed her retirement by following my 80 year old mother around gardening and tending to flowers. She was well known for gently asking for a pet by placing her head in your hand. She trained us well as she ALWAYS got the pet she was hoping for!!! Following a short but progressively worsening heart condition, Tango now runs and suns with the other KKR family members where the pastures are ever green.
